Music in the Park, Armstrong’s beloved annual outdoor concert series, returns to Memorial Park this Friday, June 21

Music in the Park in Armstrong starts with a touch of Grey.

Anita and 6 Shades of Gray of Vernon will kick off the 2024 Music in the Park series at Armstrong’s Memorial Park on Friday, June 21 at the Lions Gazebo.

“6 Shades of Gray is celebrating eight years of performing this summer,” the band said. “One of our first public performances in 2016 was Armstrong’s Music in the Park as the band kicked off the summer series. We’ve had a number of personnel changes over the years and we’re excited to introduce you to our newest member.”

That would be singer Anita Baturin, who brings her musical experience to the stage with great harmonies and has 6 Shades add songs from the many big hits of talented ladies from the top 40 charts, including country, jazz and blues. Baturin has been singing with the Legendary Lake Monsters for years.

“We are super excited to be the first band in Armstrong’s Music in the Park series for 2024,” the group said.

The concert starts at 7 p.m. Attendees are asked to bring a non-perishable food item to support the local food bank.

The June schedule concludes with the Rule 857 Band on Friday, June 28. Scheduled for July are Cadillac Jack and the Blue Tones (July 5); The Barn Boys Band (July 12); Rollin’ Coal Trio Band (July 19); and The Goods (July 26).

The August schedule includes Dixie Fried Hep Katz (August 2); Hattrick Band (August 9); Rockanagan Band (August 16); and The Young’Uns (August 23).

“We are incredibly grateful for the support of our sponsors, whose contributions play a vital role in bringing Music in the Park to life each year,” said Music in the Park organizer Rhonda Keating. “With their generosity, we can continue to provide artists with a platform to showcase their talent and create lasting memories for our community.”
