Eric Dier has been overlooked by new Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou and in January he made a move to Bayern Munich, where he played alongside his former Spurs team-mate Harry Kane.

Eric Dier (30) has agreed a permanent move to Bayern as his career in the Bundesliga and Europe continues. A long break from the game has made it difficult to return to the form he has had in the past with Spurs and for England, but he seems to have found himself again at Bayern.

Still only 30 years old, and strangely overlooked by Gareth Southgate, who backbounded a concrete defense for England, making his debut in 2015. Dier has not played for England since 2022, nor is he involved since he was part of Qatar’s World Cup squad that year. If you look at it in perspective and what he has earned at Bayern this season, he should definitely be a candidate to play in the England team in the future as well.

After injuries, Dier returned to the team in January 2019. However, he continued to suffer, falling ill repeatedly and missing matches. On 1 June, during Tottenham’s first appearance in the Champions League final, Dier replaced the injured Moussa Sissoko for the final 16 minutes of a 2–0 defeat to Liverpool in Madrid.

Dier had to undergo another procedure before the start of the 2019-2020 season and only started his first game of the season at the end of September. In March 2020, Dier was involved in a confrontation with a spectator in the stands after Tottenham’s FA Cup defeat to Norwich. Dier was fined £40,000 and given a four-match ban. On July 21, 2020, Dier signed an improved contract until June 2024.

On 11 January 2024, following a reduction in playing time under new Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou, Dier was loaned to Bundesliga club Bayern Munich on a six-month contract, which was set to expire at the same time as his Tottenham contract in June 2024. However, the loan contract contained the option for a permanent one-year contract with Bayern Munich if he made the required minimum number of appearances. Reunited with former teammate Harry Kane, Eric Dier made his debut for Bayern Munich in January 2024 in a 1–0 win over Union Berlin. After making the required number of appearances to fulfil the clause in his loan contract, it was confirmed that Dier would transfer permanently to Bayern Munich at the end of the season on an initial one-year deal. In the closing stages of the season, Dier formed a solid defensive partnership with Matthijs de Ligt under coach Thomas Tuchel, and played a crucial role in the club’s progress in the Champions League.
