A judge has decided that the “Rust” trial of Alec Baldwin will begin next month, while gunmaker Hannah Gutierrez-Reed appeals.

Both the “30 Rock” actor and the aspiring gun maker were charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection with the October 2021 shooting of camerawoman Halyna Hutchins. Gutierrez-Reed was accused of loading the gun with live ammunition. A jury took less than three hours to deliberate before returning a guilty verdict. She was sentenced to the state’s maximum sentence of 18 months behind bars.

Although “Rust” gunsmith Hannah Gutierrez-Reed is currently trying to get out of prison pending her appeal, Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer has ruled that Alec Baldwin’s trial will proceed as scheduled in July 2024.
