Recently, G-Dragon (Kwon Ji-yong) was appointed as a professor of mechanical engineering at KAIST’s Innovate Korea 2024, organized by Herald Media Group at the KAIST Ryu Keun-chul Sports Complex in Daejeon.

Later, a photo of G-Dragon visiting Sungsimdang in Daejeon, where he attended the KAIST Class to buy bread, spread widely on social media and became viral in online communities. However, the photo appears to have been taken using AI technology, and not a real photo. The creator of this image is AI creator Ryan Ohsling.

In addition to the AI image of G-Dragon, Ryan Ohsling also creates AI images with humorous ideas, such as the lives of independence activists Ahn Jung-geun and Yoo Gwan-soon in today’s lives.

This AI maker even works with the Department of Patriots and Veterans Affairs.

Taking a photo of actor Go Soo in a bowl of pho instead of cilantro (go-soo means “cilantro” in Korean) with the funny caption: “Please remove cilantro from the pho.” Moreover, issues that attracted people’s attention, such as Fubao, sleep therapy for people with insomnia, etc., also became ideas for his AI image production.

On Memorial Day, he presented images under the theme “Korean Heroes Facing Today’s Daily Life,” showing Ahn Jung-geun drinking whiskey with his friends after work or Yoo Gwan-soon eating tteokbokki after school.

These AI photos of Korean heroes eventually became connections between Ryan Ohsling and the Department of Patriots and Veterans Affairs. Currently, the AI maker is planning AI content in collaboration with the Department of Patriots and Veterans Affairs with a theme related to the Korean War.

With an investment of 26 million won, the event will be held through a public competition to gather public opinion and adopt ideas before Ryan Ohsling creates AI images. These photos will later be posted on the SNS channel of the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs.

The Department of Patriots and Veterans Affairs stated: “The project aimed to encourage the public, especially the young generations, to recognize veterans in new and easier ways in celebration of Patriots and Veterans Month,” add “Our intention is to raise awareness among the MZ generation with high expectations that veterans can be engaged with the public through advanced technology.”
